Pray for Indonesia — May the Gospel Reach Every Island
Indonesia is one of the largest island nations in the world and has the largest Muslim population of any country.
With a population of more than 280 million people, about 87% identify as Muslim, while Christians make up around 11% of the population.
Across this nation of thousands of islands, languages, and ethnic groups, many different cultures and beliefs come together, creating a vast and complex mission field.
According to Joshua Project, Indonesia has approximately 788 people groups, and 234 of them are still considered unreached. About 190 million people live among unreached people groups.
This means that many people have not only had limited opportunities to hear the Gospel, but may also lack access to Bible resources, discipleship, mature churches, and long-term workers who can walk alongside them.
Indonesia’s constitution protects religious freedom. However, in daily life, Christians may still experience pressure from family members, communities, or local environments.
Believers who come from Muslim backgrounds often face greater challenges, including isolation and rejection.
Open Doors has also reported that in recent years, some churches, Christian-owned properties, and believers’ families in Indonesia have faced attacks or destruction.
However, God is still at work in Indonesia.
The spread of the Gospel often does not happen through large events, but through long-term relationships, family visits, prayer, Bible teaching, children’s and youth ministries, and the faithful witness of local believers who understand the language and culture of their communities.

▪ Pray that believers from Muslim backgrounds will experience God’s peace as they face challenges within their families and communities.
▪ Pray that God will raise up more Indonesian M2M missionaries to serve among different islands, villages, and unreached peoples.
▪ Pray that God will prepare people of peace so that the Gospel can enter families, communities, and the next generation.
▪ Pray that God will give missionaries wisdom to serve with respect, love, and truth as they patiently help people come to know Jesus.
