Burkina Faso Frontline Prayer — Continue to Live Your Lives in Christ
In some ethnic communities in Burkina Faso, a funeral is more than a time to remember a loved one. It is also an important traditional religious ceremony for the family.
For many new believers, the greatest challenge is not attending the funeral itself, but participating in rituals that often include traditional religious practices such as ancestor veneration.
Choosing not to participate can be seen as rejecting one’s family and cultural traditions. As a result, many new Christians face intense pressure from relatives and their community because of their faith.
Pastor Pierre shared the story of a woman who accepted Jesus Christ but later stopped attending church because she could no longer take part in the religious rituals connected with a traditional funeral. Under strong pressure from her family and community, she eventually left the church.
During the past six months, Pastor Pierre shared the Gospel with 382 people, and 72 of them placed their faith in Jesus Christ.
He also shared that when he tells people about his own life—how he once worshiped idols and lived in sin, and how Christ transformed him—they are more willing to listen because he comes from the same cultural background. This shared experience helps build trust and opens more hearts to the Gospel.
🙏 Prayer Requests
- Pray that every new believer will remain strong in their faith and faithfully follow Christ, even when facing pressure from family, cultural traditions, and society.
- Pray that God will give Pastor Pierre wisdom, love, and patience as he disciples, encourages, and cares for new believers, helping them become firmly rooted in God’s Word.
- Pray that God will continue to open doors for the Gospel among the many people groups of Burkina Faso and raise up more local workers so that many more people will experience true freedom and new life in Jesus Christ.
📖 Scripture
“So then, just as you received Christ Jesus as Lord, continue to live your lives in him, rooted and built up in him, strengthened in the faith as you were taught, and overflowing with thankfulness.”
— Colossians 2:6–7 (NIV)
