Pray for Pakistan
This week, we would like to pray especially for the nation of Pakistan.
Pakistan is located in South Asia.
It borders Iran and Afghanistan to the west, India to the east, and China to the north.
With a population of more than 240 million people, Pakistan is one of the largest Muslim-majority countries in the world.
⛰️ Geography and Culture
Pakistan has many different landscapes.
In the north are some of the world’s highest mountains, including K2, the second-highest mountain in the world.
The culture of Pakistan is strongly influenced by Islamic traditions.
Family relationships and respect for elders are highly valued.
Clothing, food, and festivals also reflect the rich cultures of Central and South Asia.
✝️ Christians and Religious Situation
Christians make up about 1–2% of the population and are a minority group in Pakistan.
Many Christians live in poorer communities and often face social discrimination and religious pressure.
Believers from Muslim backgrounds may especially face rejection from family members or society after following Jesus.
Pakistan is also known internationally because of its “blasphemy laws.”
These laws are intended to prevent insults against Islam, the Prophet Muhammad, or the Qur’an.
However, in some cases, the laws may be misused, and Christians or other religious minorities may face accusations, violence, or unfair treatment because of misunderstandings or their faith.
Some Christian communities continue to experience persecution and injustice, especially women and young girls.
This can include forced marriage, child marriage, or pressure to return to Islam.
In some situations, the legal system may not provide equal protection or fair trials for Christians.
🌏 Missions and Unreached Peoples
Pakistan has many UUPGs (Unreached and Unengaged People Groups), especially in remote mountain and tribal areas.
Many ethnic groups still have little access to the Gospel, local churches, or complete Bible translations.
Because of this, Pakistan remains one of the important mission fields in the world today.
🙏 Prayer Requests
- Pray that local believers will remain strong in their faith during times of pressure and persecution.
- Pray for protection for women and young girls, and that those facing fear or oppression will experience God’s comfort, justice, and care.
- Pray that the Gospel will reach more unreached peoples and families.
- Pray that God will give wisdom, peace, and protection to M2M missionaries serving in Pakistan.
- Pray for fairness, justice, and integrity within the legal system.
- Pray that many people will come to know Jesus through love, compassion, and faithful witness.
