🇩🇿 Algeria|The Gospel Moves Forward Despite Restrictions
When we think of Algeria, many people think of North Africa, the Sahara Desert, and Islamic culture.
But did you know?
This land is not only rich in ethnic and cultural diversity—it was also once an important center of early Christianity. ✝️

🌍 Understanding the People of Algeria
Algeria is home not only to Arabs, but also to the Amazigh people, one of the ancient peoples of North Africa, also known as Berbers.
Long before the arrival of Arab peoples in North Africa, the Amazigh had lived in this region for generations. They are a diverse family of peoples with different ethnic groups, languages, and cultures. Among them are the Kabyle, who primarily live in the Kabylie region of northern Algeria.
📜 Did You Know? Christianity Has Deep Roots Here!
As early as the 2nd century, North Africa already had active Christian communities and martyrs.
One of Christianity’s well-known leaders, Augustine of Hippo, was born in AD 354 in what is now Algeria, near present-day Souk Ahras. He later became the Bishop of Hippo, and his writings continue to have a significant influence on Christian thought today.
Yet today, sharing the Gospel in Algeria faces many serious restrictions.

📌 Algeria Today
🔹 Algeria has a population of approximately 48 million, and the vast majority of its population is Muslim.
🔹 According to Joshua Project, 35 of Algeria’s 38 people groups are classified as unreached peoples. Christians make up approximately 0.1% of the total population.
🔹 Algeria is ranked #20 on Open Doors’ 2026 World Watch List, reflecting the significant pressure faced by Christians in the country.
🔹 The 47 churches affiliated with the Protestant Church of Algeria (EPA) have all ceased holding public worship services.
🔹 Online Gospel ministry also faces restrictions. In December 2024, a Christian Facebook group with more than 50,000 followers was shut down.
Even so, the Gospel has not stopped! 🔥
Frontline leaders and their teams continue to reach people through social media platforms such as Facebook and TikTok, sharing the good news of salvation through Jesus Christ.
In 2023, authorities threatened to arrest and imprison believers who gathered in homes or outdoors. In the midst of tremendous pressure, God has continued to strengthen them through His Word, enabling the team to remain faithful to their calling and persevere to this day.

🙏 Please join us in praying for Algeria:
🔹 Courage and Wisdom: Pray that the Lord will protect the frontline team and give them courage and wisdom from God to faithfully proclaim the Gospel amid restrictions and pressure.
🔹 Breakthrough in Online Ministry: Pray that the Lord will use platforms such as Facebook and TikTok to overcome restrictions and reach more people who are searching for truth.
🔹 Strength for Local Believers: Pray that the Lord will strengthen believers in Algeria to stand firm in their faith, support one another, and know that they are not alone.
🔹 Open Doors for the Gospel: Pray that the Lord Himself will make a way for the Gospel, giving more Algerians the opportunity to know Jesus and receive His salvation.
🔹 Revival in an Ancient Land: Pray that the Lord will raise up His Church again in this land that once had many Christians, and that the light of the Gospel will continue to shine!
📖 “Grant to your servants to continue to speak your word with all boldness.”
